IN BRIEF

Mr. Lombardi is one of the original eleven charter directors that started the ABCA. He was present on April 14, 1983 at Mississippi State University for the first directors meeting, having traveled there from California. He was instrumental in starting the San Joaquin Valley Border Collie Association in Porterville, California as well. Mr. Lombardi has organized, directed, and judged many trials over the years at fairs, agricultural shows, individually, and with clubs. At 88 years of age, he still organizes, directs, and judges the California Mid-State Fair Sheep Dog Trial in Paso Robles, California which is located over three hours away from his home. At his seasoned age, he still enjoys trialing competitively. Mr. Lombardi is greatly respected by all handlers who know him. He is a wonderfully positive mentor to many handlers, including myself. Border Collie trialing in California would not be what it is today without the hard work and tenacity of Guido Lombardi. (F. Temple 2010)
